Q: What does “greener” mean?
A: “Greener” is the next step in the “green” movement. If “green” means good for the environment, “greener” means good for the environment and the people.
There is often an expression of cognitive dissonance between actions that are ‘good for you’ and ‘good the environment’. We think there shouldn’t be. We may live and thrive in ways that are conducive to our healthy and happiness, while performing behaviors that are good for planet Earth.
Our goal is to introduce a new lifestyle—the “greener” lifestyle—one that makes clear this symbiotic relationship. We hope to reduce the weight of this dissonance and move forward, thoughtfully and actively. We can call it, The Greener Movement!
Q: How do we plan to do this? What is the first step?
A: We admit, we are not completely sure. But, we believe that the marketplace is a strong first place of action. So, we developed our own marketplace, drawing inspiration from the market square: a place where people can find natural and locally made clothing, furniture and food, socialize with a like-minded community and learn about how items are made directly from the vendors. We call it, Greener Square: the “greener” Market Square.
We curate, research and rate products—ranging from fashion, furniture and food to everyday items—and assess if they are:
1. Sustainable
2. Ethical and Humane
3. Organic or Natural
4. Locally-sourced
5. Charitable
We call this our “greener criteria.”
We aim to feature only products that we think are “greener.” We believe it’s time to “go greener”! This is the #GreenerMovement!
